In this section, we set the foundation for a better understanding of Diversity and Inclusion as an HR discipline. After looking at the learning objectives, we reviewed the basic definitions of Diversity and Inclusion noting that every organization needs both components to reap its benefits. Then, we examined the employment cycle highlighting D&I as an essential part of phases 1 thru 4, recruit, develop, perform, reward and may even include phase 5, transition. I also defined a sample career path for Diversity and Inclusion practitioners and shared my own experiences as a specialist.
