As an HR leader, your goal is to be able to serve your internal clients as their consultant for all things related to the organization’s talent capabilities. Since many of your business leaders likely read the Wall Street Journal, the Harvard Business Review and other business periodicals, they will inevitably have read something about a great talent assessment that they think their department or their region needs.

While you do not want to curb this enthusiasm, you do need to guide them through the steps to create an appropriate talent assessment solution that focuses on the right KSAOs, and utilizes reliable and valid measures for their intended use and then help them to use these assessments appropriately to make hiring/promotion decisions. We will get further into how to use the assessment data appropriately in future lessons.
