Course:
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) has evolved a great deal since the inception of diversity initiatives dating back to the 1960s. Tremendous strides have been made as DEI continues to open doors and create a healthier, happier and higher-performing workforce. This couldn’t be more true for those, like you in HR, who are partnering with your management teams to cultivate an engaging and supportive work environment.
A typical response to addressing wellness and addiction is to provide an employee assistance program or EAP. However, DEI groups are ideally suited to collaborate with individuals and organizations to provide appropriate training programs or even non-clinical services in the workplace. Although not a replacement for EAPs, DEI initiatives can serve as a complement to them.
We discuss how DEI groups can help support wellness within your organization. We learn more about the disease of addiction and how it may be hiding in plain sight among your employees. We also examine how DEI can provide an innovative, proactive workforce solution to address this serious problem.
