Paula A. Wood, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, has over 20 years of human resource practitioner experience with companies in the Midwest. In conjunction with her full-time career, she is celebrating 15 years as an adjunct instructor at Indiana University South Bend, facilitating both SHRM and HRCI certification classes. As a certified instructor, she has passed the SHRM-SCP, PHR, and SPHR exams.
Paula is the founder of HRwood Consulting, helping companies maximize talent and resources. Paula functions as a coach and advisor to senior management teams regarding key organizational and management issues to ensure organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, talent management, and leadership development experience.
Paula also services on the Board of Directors of the Michiana Chapter of SHRM and is a captain on the SHRM Advocacy Team, which supports the HR community on how public policy issues affecting employees and employers. As a member of this team, she has visited Indiana State House and Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., speaking with congressional representatives about legislative bills and how they affect local businesses.
In 2015, Paula was recognized as Professional of the Year at the HR Indiana State SHRM Conference. Her passion is mentoring students, interns, and new professionals in the human resource field. She also enjoys volunteering at high school career days and helping cub scouts and boy scouts earn a variety of life skill badges.
